This talk aims to give a practitioner's perspective on cyclical and structural factors underpinning the trade war and global realignments set in motion by President Trump. The first part of the talk will cover the interlinkages between trade war and de-dollarisation while touching upon current legal issues regarding institutional overreach by the Trump administration. The second part of the talk will be focused on possibility of decoupling (industrial, fiscal and monetary policies) between US and the G20. The final part of the talk attempts to connect these international themes to India.
