Abstract: Scholarly publishing has been increasing at an average annual growth rate of between 4-5% each year. From 2000 till today, there has been a 30% growth in the number of articles. The avenues of publishing have increased with an 18% average annual growth rate in the number of journals. With the intense competition and drive to publish, and addition of AI to this scenario, we have fresh concerns about ethical pitfalls. The talk will cover publishing ethics, what pitfalls scholars should watch out for, how malpractices are detected, and what are the ways forward.
