Empowering Litigants through Data on Courts

This roundtable aims to showcase a new framework developed by XKDR Forum, in collaboration with Agami as ecosystem partner, which can potentially help litigants make informed choices using data including that disseminated by courts. We will also demonstrate the findings of a pilot that deploys this framework in the context of a litigant choosing a debt recovery forum in Mumbai. The purpose of the roundtable is to seek feedback from the audience on the findings and real-world applications of this framework, the utility of pilots like the one we demonstrate at the roundtable, and the potential to scale up the pilot across case types. For example, our researchers apply this framework to estimate the probability of getting a first hearing at the Bombay High Court within the first 3 months of filing a case in this article.

The audience will comprise a mix of legal practitioners, firms that litigate frequently in Indian courts, entrepreneurs working in the law and justice field, academic researchers, and civil society organizations.
